Opening Day at CPLL went off without a hitch, over a thousand pancakes were served (take that IHOP!) the weather was beautiful, and some very exciting baseball was played. In the T-Ball Division, the ‘base races’ continued to be as lively as ever, in the Single A Division players were already seen hitting balls all the way out to the fence. In the Double AA Division, the Astros and Indians went to extra innings to settle things…as did the seemingly never-ending AAA game between the Indians and Yankees.
The first walk-off hit of the year occurred in the bottom of the 6th between the AAA Giants and AAA Angels. The first two home runs of the year in the Majors were delivered on opening day, back to back, courtesy of the Major Mets. And, the Juniors rivalry heated up with intra-division play between the Juniors Giants and Juniors Mets. The throwback uniforms in the AA division were all the rage, as were the vintage stirrups and high pants worn by all teams in the Juniors division. If the rest of the regular season even remotely resembles opening day, CPLL is in for another fantastic season!
Without the significant help of all of our volunteers, CPLL would not be what it is today. A special thank you to all who have given their time in 2013. This league would not be what it is without you!
